Shortage of listings driving up Twin Cities home prices

The shortage of home listings in the Twin Cities is fueling higher home prices and quicker sales. Prospective home buyers in the Twin Cities need to be ready to make quick decisions and prepare strong offers.

Home sales lean on sellers

Home buyers in the Twin Cities outnumbered sellers in October boosting prices and reducing the supply of homes for sale.   The Twin Cities market has also shown a 3.3% increase in signed purchase agreements from 2014.  New listings have not kept up with home buying activity, making the many Twin Cities areas a seller’s market.

Twin Cities housing market during September was best in decade

There were more buyers than sellers in the Twin Cities last month booting sales prices and closings to the best fall market in a decade. A strong market has been extended by good fall weather and good interest rates.  The fall sales numbers indicate strong momentum for the housing market for the rest of 2015.

Twin Cities home sales soar 30% in March, setting up strong spring

March home sales spring upward and set the stage for a strong spring market.   March 2015 saw a 30% increase in purchase agreements signed over last March. Traditional home buyers are leading the way now, as we approach an eighth year of recovery in the Twin Cities area real estate market. Few barriers remain for this recovery to be complete.  One that does remain is that 1 in 7 Twin Citie’s homeowners still owe more than their home is worth, which contributes to a tight supply in homes for sale. Interest rates averaging around 3.7 percent have moved many home buyers into the market.

Fewer sales but more solid footing for Twin Cities housing market

Twin Cities home prices had significant gains last year, as the economy improves and the foreclosure crisis nears its end.  By most measures 2014 the Twin Cities real estate market was at its healthiest since 2008.
